Long builds
Start the compile, plug in, shut the lid, and come back to results instead of a sleeping Mac.
Plugged-in Mac jobs that need to finish
Keep long builds, downloads, backups, and remote jobs running after the lid closes. Each session is manual, AC-only, and tied to the running app. Unplugging, quitting, restarting, or missing the safety heartbeat ends the session, attempts a verified rollback, and never rearms automatically. If rollback cannot be verified, LidSwitch shows Recovery required instead of claiming success.
Activation is qualified only for macOS 26.5.2 build 25F84. Manual install, disclosed up front: LidSwitch is not App Store distributed or notarized, so macOS may ask you to approve Open Anyway in Security settings.
When sleep would waste the run
Start the compile, plug in, shut the lid, and come back to results instead of a sleeping Mac.
Let big downloads finish without leaving the display open on your desk.
Keep SSH sessions, scripts, and remote tasks alive while the Mac is charging.
Give Time Machine and local backup scripts time to finish cleanly.
Manual install, no surprises
This is a small technical release, not an App Store flow. Review the source on GitHub, download the DMG from Releases, then approve the local helper only when macOS asks.
Grab the DMG from Releases. Source, docs, and packaging scripts are public in the same GitHub repo.
If Gatekeeper blocks the first launch, approve it in macOS Security settings.
Admin permission installs the compiled helper and removes old startup behavior. Protection remains off.
Confirm Start Plugged-In Session, wait for Protection active — plugged in, then close the lid. Use Stop and Restore when the job finishes.
Trust through control
LidSwitch has one job: prevent lid-close sleep during a session you explicitly start while plugged in. It has no battery mode and no login launch. Restore and removal controls stay in the menu.
The Mac app sends no passwords, API keys, tokens, account identifiers, analytics, or telemetry. This website uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate traffic, and GitHub counts release downloads.
Review the app, helper, docs, and packaging scripts before you run the DMG.
Unplugging ends the session. Reconnecting power never restarts it automatically.
Stop and Restore and Remove Helper sit in the menu bar panel, not buried in a script.
Free manual DMG. Manual approval expected.
This recovery release activates only on macOS 26.5.2 build 25F84. Other builds remain off until they pass the same safety qualification.
